Government Monetises Assets Worth Rs 3.86 Lakh Crore Over Three Years

The government announced the monetisation of assets worth Rs 3.86 lakh crore over three years from 2021-22 to 2023-24, with significant contributions from sectors such as coal, roads, and power. Minister Pankaj Chaudhary provided detailed sector-wise figures to the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The government announced on Monday that it has successfully monetised assets worth Rs 3.86 lakh crore over the period from 2021-22 to 2023-24. A significant portion of this monetisation, worth over Rs 1.54 lakh crore, came from the coal sector.

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary disclosed this information in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, mentioning that the transactions involve private investments or accruals.

Detailed sector-wise data revealed other major contributions from roads (Rs 81,556 crore), power (Rs 33,512 crore), and mines (Rs 32,651 crore). Further monetisation was reported in petroleum and natural gas (Rs 28,587 crore), railways (Rs 20,417 crore), and several other sectors including shipping, urban development, and telecom.
