Amidst rising political tensions, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh dismissed accusations from ex-Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh as "wild and baseless." Singh confirmed having previously reported Deshmukh's alleged extortion activities to then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other key leaders, but no actions were taken.

In an explosive interview with ANI, Singh emphasized that his charges against Deshmukh were genuine and untainted by political ambitions. He proposed undergoing a joint narco test with Deshmukh to substantiate his claims, asserting he had no political affiliations or motivations.

Singh accused Deshmukh of having an organized extortion racket, allegedly setting a monthly target to collect Rs 100 crore from Mumbai bars and restaurants. Deshmukh, now on bail, faces ongoing CBI and ED investigations. As assembly polls approach, both governing and opposition parties have started their preparations in Maharashtra.
