Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to request increased financial assistance for the financially struggling state.
In his first post-Union Budget meeting with Modi, Naidu expressed gratitude for the Rs 15,000 crore funding allocated for the new capital's development, according to sources.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader highlighted Andhra Pradesh's rising public debt and requested further central support to enhance economic activities and the state's GDP. Official data revealed that the state's public debt has escalated from 31.02% of GSDP in 2019-20 to 33.32% in 2023-24.
Naidu, whose party holds 16 Lok Sabha seats, is a crucial ally in the NDA government. He is also scheduled to meet Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during his visit to the national capital.
