Illegal Physician's Samples and Expired Drugs Seized in Hyderabad Raid

In a significant move, officials from the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) in Secunderabad conducted a raid on Monday at a retail outlet in Hyderabad's Tarnaka, seizing physician's samples and expired drugs that were illegally stocked for sale. The total worth of the seized items is estimated to be Rs.55,000. The confiscated items include nine varieties of physician's samples, six varieties of expired drugs, and one institutional supply drug.
Physician's samples are typically manufactured by pharmaceutical companies for distribution to doctors, who in turn provide them to patients free of charge. These samples are not intended for sale. The raid was executed by a team of DCA officials including D Saritha, Assistant Director, Secunderabad, B Govind Singh, Drugs Inspector, Secunderabad, G Anil, Drugs Inspector, Malakpet, P Renuka, Drugs Inspector, Musheerabad, and M. Surendranath, Drugs Inspector, Begumpet.
Further investigation will be conducted, and appropriate legal action will be taken against the offenders under the law. The Drugs Control Administration of Telangana has been consistently vigilant in detecting illegal sales of medicines, including physicians' samples and expired drugs. Violators will face stringent action, as stocking these drugs for sale is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act with imprisonment of up to two years.
