BSF Foils Major Smuggling Attempts along Meghalaya Border
The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya thwarted multiple smuggling attempts, seizing contraband worth Rs 12 lakh and rescuing 27 cattle. The operations, based on intelligence, targeted illegal activities along the border with Bangladesh, resulting in significant finds handed over to customs and police.

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday prevented a significant smuggling operation in Meghalaya, seizing contraband worth Rs 12 lakh. BSF personnel confiscated 12 cartons of the cosmetic ointment Skin Shine near the international border, intended for illicit transport into Bangladesh, according to an official statement.
The seized items have been handed to the Customs office in Pynursla. In a similar operation on Wednesday, BSF officials intercepted contraband valued at Rs 16 lakh, thwarting another smuggling attempt along the border after receiving intelligence regarding cattle smuggling plans.
BSF troops from the 4th Battalion conducted targeted operations, rescuing 27 cattle destined for illegal trade at the border. They also intercepted a cosmetic-laden pickup and seized additional contraband, demonstrating vigilance against cross-border smuggling in the region.
