As anticipation builds for the Maha Kumbh 2025 celebrations, the Uttar Pradesh Police have bolstered security measures in preparation for the significant Maghi Purnima event on Wednesday. With an influx of millions of devotees expected, the authorities are rigorously ensuring a secure and seamless experience for attendees.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna confirmed that to handle the massive influx of people, the area has been designated as a no-vehicle zone, with only emergency vehicles permitted to transit. Special arrangements are in place for managing crowd movements, and Kalpvasis' vehicles will be allowed access to the fairgrounds following ceremonial baths.

In discussions with ANI, DIG Krishna highlighted, "An immense crowd is anticipated for Maghi Purnima, prompting extensive police deployment. A no-vehicle zone has been enforced, strictly allowing only emergency access. Provisions are made for Kalpvasis' vehicles post-bath... The police have outlined specialized travel plans to prevent overcrowding."

He further elaborated on the day's planned logistics, emphasizing measures to prevent cross-movement during entry and exit, while ensuring clear passage on all fair roads. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official UP Police social media channels. The allowance of vehicles will be closely regulated, based on spatial and flow considerations. Earlier, Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar praised the police for their diligent management of the unprecedented crowds at Maha Kumbh, commending it as a "Herculean task" executed with "unparalleled teamwork."

Despite these demanding circumstances, the UP Police, from the ground staff to top officials, are working tirelessly to regulate traffic, assist pilgrims, and uphold law and order with profound dedication. With two major bathing milestones pending, the festival anticipates surpassing 500 million participants taking part in rituals.

Maha Kumbh commenced on January 13 and will extend until February 26. Key upcoming bathing dates include Basant Panchami (Third Shahi Snan) on February 3, Maghi Purnima on February 12, and Maha Shivaratri on February 26. (ANI)
