On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, Mahant Narayan Giri of the Dudheshwarnath Temple has emphasized the historical and spiritual significance of this ancient temple. He revealed that the temple's origins trace back to an era when Sage Vishwava Rishi is believed to have established Lord Dudheshwar here. Additionally, it's a site graced by the worship of Ravana and Kumbhakarna. Dudheshwarnath is celebrated as a sub-Jyotirlinga of Kashi Vishwanath, featuring the 'swambhu' Shivling, which emerged from cow's milk, revered as Dudheshwarnath Mahadev.

As the Maha Shivratri festival approaches, the temple witnesses an influx of devotees with strengthened security measures. Mahant Narayan Giri mentioned that between ten to fifteen million people have already thronged the temple, continuously offering their worship. The precinct buzzes with a constant flow of worshippers, assured of their safety by the deployment of around twelve hundred police personnel under the vigilant eyes of officials, including Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra.

Maha Shivratri, known as the night dedicated to Lord Shiva, is celebrated with immense devotion across India and other nations with significant Hindu populations. This year, the revered day falls on a Wednesday, and the Dudheshwarnath Temple is prepared to receive an estimated one million pilgrims. Observed on the 13th night or 14th day of the lunar-solar month, Maha Shivratri sees Lord Shiva's temples thronged with worshippers. (ANI)
