Gulf Countries Brace for Potential Catastrophe: Qatar PM Cautions Against Iran Nuclear Strike
Qatar's prime minister warns that attacking Iran's nuclear facilities could contaminate Gulf waters, threatening life in Qatar, UAE, and Kuwait. He advocates for diplomacy over a military strike, while highlighting Qatar's vulnerability given its reliance on desalinated water from the Gulf.
Qatar's prime minister has raised alarms about the dire consequences of striking Iran's nuclear facilities, emphatically stating that such an action would lead to the contamination of Gulf waters, casting severe threats over Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait.
The Gulf region, highly dependent on desalinated water due to its limited natural resources, could face catastrophic setbacks in water supply, imperiling the lives of over 18 million residents. This vital water supply is drawn directly from the Gulf, making it susceptible to pollution from any military escalations involving Iran.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani advocates for peaceful diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran, rather than military conflict which could spread across the entire region. He emphasizes Qatar's strategic position between the U.S. and Iran, stressing a political solution to mitigate risks.
