Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has launched a scathing attack on the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party amid the ongoing dispute over the three-language policy in the National Education Policy (NEP). Addressing the Lok Sabha, Pradhan accused the DMK of dishonesty and playing politics, jeopardizing the future of Tamil Nadu's students.
Pradhan alleged that the DMK is solely focused on raising language barriers and accused them of engaging in undemocratic and uncivilized politics. Following these remarks, the DMK staged a walkout in the Rajya Sabha after highlighting issues related to the three-language policy and delimitation. Health Minister JP Nadda criticized the opposition for this action, describing it as irresponsible and urging them to familiarize themselves with parliamentary rules.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin condemned Union Education Minister Pradhan for provoking a revival of unresolved tensions, asserting that the state would not yield to perceived Hindi imposition. Congress leader P Chidambaram emphasized the need for successful implementation of a two-language policy before discussing a three-language formula, criticizing the dominance of Hindi in several states.
