Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday voiced strong disapproval over a controversial fashion show held in Gulmarg during the sacred month of Ramzan. Addressing the assembly, he insisted such an event was inappropriate, especially without official clearance.
The Chief Minister clarified that the gathering was a private initiative, emphasizing no governmental endorsement or permission. He asserted that legal procedures would follow if any rules were breached, promising to investigate police involvement if needed.
The fashion show sparked widespread criticism and cultural offense, with figures like MLA Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh and JKNC's Tanvir Sadiq calling it an attack on local traditions. Minister Sakina Itoo also criticized the event, underscoring its inappropriateness during Ramzan.
