Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray harshly criticized the recent Maharashtra Budget, describing it as a 'budget of jumla' — rhetoric without substance. Thackeray pointed out the lack of tangible benefits for farmers and the unfulfilled promise of Rs 2100 under the Ladki Behen Yojana, labeling the government's pledges as election tactics.

Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented the 2025-26 Budget on Monday, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047. The Maharashtra government has announced a total expenditure of Rs 7.20 lakh crore for the fiscal year, with projected revenue receipts at Rs 5,60,964 crore. The state aims to advance the 'Developed India, Developed Maharashtra' dream, promising to overcome delays in development.

Despite criticism, the budget outlines major investments in agriculture, industry, business, education, and health to boost economic growth. It aims to attract foreign investments and generate job opportunities. Key initiatives include a new industrial policy to drive Rs 40 lakh crore investments, improved agricultural infrastructure, and significant improvements in transportation and housing sectors. The budget also emphasizes cultural heritage preservation and sports infrastructure enhancement.
