Collision Crisis: Fuel Tanker and Container Ship Clash off British Coast
The U.S.-flagged tanker Stena Immaculate collided with the Portuguese-flagged Solong container ship, resulting in the leakage of jet fuel. Two of the ship's 18 fuel tanks have leaked, but the majority of the fuel remains contained. The Solong's captain has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
The U.S.-flagged tanker Stena Immaculate, hit by a container ship, managed to contain most of its jet fuel, with only two of its 18 tanks leaking, as confirmed by its owner, Stena Bulk, on Wednesday.
The Stena Immaculate remains stationary and is being closely monitored both by corporate and government officials. Two leaking tanks have released about 10% of its cargo.
This incident, involving the U.S. military's fuel transport, may challenge the Pentagon's logistics due to the tanker being part of a crucial military supply program.
