International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) reports that last year saw a record-breaking surge in renewable energy installations globally, with solar, wind, and other clean sources accounting for 92.5% of new electricity capacity.
China added nearly 64% of the world's new renewable energy in 2024, significantly outperforming the United States and Europe in solar power capacity. At present, China boasts almost 887 billion watts of solar energy.
United Nations representatives call for accelerated transitions to clean energy to achieve the international goal of tripling renewable energy by 2030, citing economic incentives and climate-change mitigation as primary drivers.
