Delhi Legislative Assembly's Leader of Opposition, Atishi, has voiced strong criticism against the BJP and the Uttar Pradesh government led by CM Yogi Adityanath. Her concerns stem from viral videos indicating chaotic scenes at liquor outlets, attributed to a 'Buy 1 Get 1 Free' offer.
Atishi confronted reporters, highlighting incidents in key cities such as Noida, Meerut, and Muzaffarnagar, where social media footage shows disorderly crowds and even stampedes outside liquor stores. She questioned the BJP's intentions, pondering if the party aims to foster alcoholism in both Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions.
Pressing further, she challenged the BJP about its stance on the burgeoning situation, including the involvement of the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate. She highlighted past protests against similar liquor schemes and called for a possible investigation into Yogi's administration.
