Rajnath Singh Highlights India's Strategic Border Developments with BRO Projects

Addressing the 66th Raising Day of BRO, Singh emphasized the strategic necessity of robust infrastructure in enhancing national security and economic prosperity in remote border regions.

During the 66th Raising Day of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) held at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reiterated the government's resolve to advance border area development. Key to this commitment is the Sela Tunnel, emblematic of efforts to improve connectivity in strategically vital regions.
Singh virtually inaugurated 50 significant infrastructure projects by BRO, valued at Rs 1,879 crore, covering six border states and two union territories. These projects are set to fortify India's security, connectivity, and development in remote regions, marking noteworthy progress as BRO completed 161 projects worth Rs 5,600 crore in the past two years alone.
The Defence Minister highlighted the dual role of these projects in enhancing defense readiness and stimulating economic growth and tourism. Stating that military capability relies on robust infrastructure, Singh commended BRO's crucial role in ensuring timely military mobility. He also stressed the need for new-generation infrastructure amid the current geopolitical context, praising the armed forces' precise action in Operation Sindoor against terrorist camps.
