Odisha has made significant strides in transforming from a power-sufficient to a power-empowered state, as proclaimed by Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo. Speaking at an energy conference, he highlighted the state's ability to meet a peak power demand of 6,242 MW and outlined ambitious future targets.

By 2036, Odisha aims to source 61% of its power from non-fossil fuels, adding a total of 11,294 MW of capacity, including solar, wind, and other renewable energies. Currently, 3,904 MW have been contracted, illustrating the state's commitment to a sustainable energy transition.

The state has also achieved grid resilience with islanding schemes to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Additionally, the AT&C losses have decreased significantly. The government seeks further support from the Centre for various infrastructure initiatives and funds to enhance its power capabilities.
