Controversial Appointment: Vikas Barala Named Assistant Advocate General in Haryana

Vikas Barala, son of BJP leader Subhash Barala, has been appointed as the Assistant Advocate General in Haryana. Barala, who is involved in an ongoing 2017 stalking case involving Varnika Kundu, was granted bail in 2018. His appointment comes amid a wave of other legal appointments in the state.

In a move that has stirred controversy, Vikas Barala, the son of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subhash Barala, has been appointed as the Assistant Advocate General (AG) in Haryana. This appointment, announced alongside more than 80 others including Deputy and Additional AGs, marks a significant position for Barala amidst ongoing legal proceedings.

Vikas Barala, accused in a high-profile stalking case involving senior IAS officer's daughter Varnika Kundu in 2017, was granted bail in January 2018. Although the trial remains unresolved, with a new hearing set for August 2, Barala's political connections continue to be scrutinized.

The 2017 incident sparked nationwide outrage when Kundu accused Barala and a friend of tailing her car in Chandigarh. Arrested and later released on bail, the court framed charges of stalking and attempted abduction. Barala, maintaining his innocence, attributes his release to faith and family support.
