DHCBA Calls for Relief Efforts Amid Uttarakhand's Calamity

The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) has expressed profound sorrow following the catastrophic floods and landslides that have wreaked havoc across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and other states. Senior Advocate and DHCBA President N Hariharan conveyed the association's solidarity with the affected communities, particularly in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, which was hit by a flash flood after a cloudburst.

On August 5, a devastating cloudburst struck Uttarkashi district, resulting in at least five fatalities and over 50 individuals reported missing. Dharali village, situated on the sacred path to Gangotri Dham, endured significant damage, while widespread flooding and landslides have severely disrupted infrastructures, affecting the Char Dham Yatra. The Indian Army is actively providing medical support in Harsil amidst the chaos.

The DHCBA, deeply impacted by the crisis, issued a statement urging its members and the wider legal community in Delhi to assist with relief efforts. "The generosity and support of the legal fraternity will significantly ease the plight of those enduring this disaster," Hariharan stated. Meanwhile, relief operations are underway with rescue teams working tirelessly to find missing individuals and restore essential connectivity. (ANI)
