Delhi's skies remained choked with smog on Tuesday as the air quality index (AQI) continued to languish in the 'poor' category. At 8 a.m., the Central Pollution Control Board reported a capital-wide AQI of 292, illustrating the pervasive air quality issues.
Iconic vistas such as India Gate and Kartavya Path were shrouded in a gray haze, with AQI readings at 265, indicating a 'poor' status. Alarming figures such as 319 at Akshardham and 342 in Bawana pushed these areas into the 'very poor' zone, underscoring the severity of the situation affecting multiple neighborhoods.
According to the Pollution Control Board, categories from 'good' to 'severe' frame the public's understanding of health risks, yet Tuesday's conditions positioned much of Delhi in troubling territory, portending respiratory issues due to persistent exposure.
