On Wednesday morning, dense fog and poor visibility caused significant disruptions at India's Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, where ten flights were cancelled, according to airport authorities. Chennai International Airport also faced disruptions as 11 flights were cancelled due to adverse weather in Delhi and northern states.
An official statement indicated that from Delhi, four departures and seven arrivals were scrapped. The deteriorating air quality and persistent fog have been affecting flight schedules across several northern regions, causing diversions.
Cancellations between Chennai and northern cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, and Kolkata added to passenger inconvenience. Meanwhile, Delhi experienced a minor improvement in air quality, as recorded by the Central Pollution Control Board, with an AQI lowering slightly from 354 to 328, yet remaining in the 'very poor' category.
