On Wednesday, CPI leaders spearheaded a protest against the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) policy for medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Led by State Secretary G Eswarayya and City Secretary G Koteswara Rao, protesters symbolically burned Government Orders Nos. 847 and 590 during the demonstration.

Eswarayya criticized the YSRCP government for introducing Government Orders No. 107 and 108, which previously prompted resistance from TDP leaders. The new orders, Nos. 847 and 590, further implement the controversial PPP policy. According to the CPI, this approach is detrimental to students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minority communities who are financially unable to pursue medical education.

Addressing reporters, Eswarayya explained that the government's new policy negatively impacts SC, ST, and minority students. He also criticized the charges imposed by government medical hospitals for the treatment of economically disadvantaged people in Andhra Pradesh. In parallel, YSR Congress Party leaders have called for the immediate cancellation of Government Order No. 15, claiming it unfairly exploits temple lands. They allege a systematic undermining of Hindu traditions and call for protective legislation for temple priests.
