Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to citizens nationwide on Wednesday, extending his heartfelt greetings for the harvest festivals of Makar Sankranti, Magh Bihu, and Pongal. In his letter, he emphasized that these festivals, though celebrated uniquely across India, share a common spirit of hope and enthusiasm.

Modi underscored the festivals' significance to the farming community, calling them moments to appreciate those who tirelessly work to sustain the nation. In his message for Magh Bihu, he portrayed it as a vibrant part of Assamese culture, promoting values of joy, warmth, and brotherhood, marking the end of the harvest season.

Addressing Pongal, the Prime Minister offered a 'Vanakkam' to highlight the festival's role in honoring agriculture, rural life, and labor dignity, strengthening family ties and social unity. He recognized Pongal as a celebration of Tamil cultural richness and expressed pride in Tamil as one of the world's oldest languages.

Magh Bihu, a key festival in Assam, marks the harvest season's conclusion with community gatherings. Together with Lohri, Pongal, Sankranti, and Uttarayan, these festivals illustrate the diverse celebratory styles across India. Additionally, Lohri in northern India is celebrated with bonfires and folk songs, enhancing the festive spirit.

Prime Minister Modi is slated to join Pongal festivities at Union Minister L Murugan's residence in the national capital today.
