Odisha and NIEPID Collaborate for Empowering Persons with Intellectual Disabilities

The Odisha government and NIEPID have signed an MoU to improve services for persons with intellectual disabilities. This agreement focuses on education, training, and community awareness, aiming to empower affected individuals and reduce stigma across the state by leveraging a comprehensive curriculum and expert support.

The government of Odisha and the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) have entered an agreement to enhance support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

This memorandum of understanding pins down strategies focused on early identification, education, and capacity building aimed at strengthening community awareness and acceptance.

Both parties will collaborate on curriculum implementation, research, and specialized training, including the production of digital resources, with the goal of fostering an inclusive society and reducing stigma. The three-year agreement could see an extension with mutual consent.
