Union minister Jitendra Singh to participate virtually in Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa

Rwanda has officially invited Union minister Jitendra Singh to participate in the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa NEISA 2026 scheduled to be held in Kigali from May 18 to May 21. During the meeting here, Mukangira and Singh also discussed avenues for strengthening India-Rwanda cooperation in science and technology, innovation, atomic energy applications, digital capacity building, and emerging technologies.

Rwanda has officially invited Union minister Jitendra Singh to participate in the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA 2026) scheduled to be held in Kigali from May 18 to May 21. ''Dr Jitendra Singh, however, regretted his inability to visit Rwanda personally but agreed to participate virtually and address the designated session during the summit,'' an official said. The invitation was extended during a meeting between Jacqueline Mukangira, Rwanda's High Commissioner to India, and Singh on Saturday. The summit -- being organised in collaboration with leading international and regional institutions including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) -- is expected to bring together policymakers, scientists, innovators, industry leaders and strategic stakeholders to deliberate on nuclear energy innovation, AI integration, manufacturing ecosystems and future-ready energy partnerships for Africa. During the meeting here, Mukangira and Singh also discussed avenues for strengthening India-Rwanda cooperation in science and technology, innovation, atomic energy applications, digital capacity building, and emerging technologies. In a statement, Singh said, ''India attaches high importance to international cooperation in emerging and transformative technologies and remains committed to strengthening partnerships with countries of the Global South in areas of science, innovation and sustainable development.''
