Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav presided over a pivotal cabinet meeting at the Bhopal state secretariat on Monday, where key resolutions for public welfare and infrastructure enhancement were sanctioned. The Council of Ministers approved expenditure exceeding Rs 29,540 crore, aimed at bolstering public services, roads, infrastructure, healthcare, irrigation, and social security across the state.

Prominent among the approvals was an allocation of Rs 15,598.27 crore for the continuation and administration of public programmes under the Finance Department from 2026 to 2031. Additionally, Rs 6,900 crore was earmarked for urban road construction and improvement, delineated into Rs 2,100 crore for new projects and Rs 4,800 crore for road upgrades.

In a significant move for social welfare, Rs 6,115.99 crore was approved for extending the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme for five years from April 2026. The scheme ensures a monthly pension for senior citizens living below the poverty line. Further, revised funding of Rs 763.40 crore is sanctioned for a new medical college in Budni, enhancing healthcare education infrastructure.
