The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, awarded the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Awards for 2026 to 15 distinguished nursing professionals on International Nurses Day, in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Murmu lauded the nurses' invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to healthcare in her address.

Established in 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the awards honor nursing personnel for meritorious service. Union Health Minister JP Nadda, attended the ceremony with Ministers Prataprao Jadhav and Anupriya Patel, recognizing their pivotal role in society.

Minister Nadda extolled the awardees for their dedication to serving humanity and underscored the government's efforts to bolster the nursing and midwifery sectors nationwide. Each awardee receives a Certificate of Merit, a Rs 1,00,000 cash prize, and a medal, symbolizing the nation's appreciation for their service.
