Poland plans to increase its defense spending to 5% of its GDP by 2025, as announced by Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. Poland is set to elevate its defense spending to an unprecedented 5% of its gross domestic product (GDP) by 2025, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski revealed in an interview with Bloomberg Television broadcasted on Friday evening.
This decision comes after Warsaw already increased its defense allocation to over 4% of its economic output this year as a countermeasure to Russia’s ongoing aggression in Ukraine.
'Poland spends 4 percent of GDP on defense, and we are going to spend 5 next year,' Sikorski stated, highlighting Poland's top position in NATO by proportion. Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk confirmed the budget boost, while Army Chief of Staff General Wieslaw Kukula emphasized the need for military preparedness for potential conflicts.
