Mumbai has noted a slight rise in malaria and H1N1 cases in July 2024, reaching 797 and 161 respectively, as per the city civic body's latest data released on Wednesday.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report on 'Monsoon-related diseases', while there's been a small uptick in malaria and H1N1 infections, cases of dengue, leptospirosis, and gastroenteritis have declined compared to July 2023.
The BMC's house-to-house fever survey in July 2024 covered nearly 11.95 lakh households, reaching about 55.80 lakh individuals, and provided prophylaxis for leptospirosis to 84,116 people. An awareness campaign, 'Bhag Mosquito Bhag', featuring celebrity messages from the Marathi and Hindi film industries, has been initiated to advocate for mosquito control measures across the region.
