West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a surprise visit to the protesting junior doctors at Swasthya Bhawan in Salt Lake on Saturday, promising to address their grievances.
During her visit, Banerjee assured the doctors that she would investigate their demands and take necessary action if any individual is found guilty. She expressed her empathy, noting her sleepless nights due to their agitation.
Banerjee also announced the immediate dissolution of patient welfare committees at state-run hospitals, marking her last effort to resolve the standoff. However, the protesting doctors remained adamant, insisting on further discussions before any compromise.
