France has announced that outbreaks of the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu have been detected on two farms in the country's southwestern region, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health.
The spread of the virus, commonly known as avian influenza, has become a significant concern across the globe, prompting urgent measures by governments and the poultry industry. Recent global incidents have disrupted supply chains, pushed food prices higher, and increased the potential risk of human transmission.
In the recent outbreak, authorities confirmed that the virus was found in chickens and vaccinated ducks, resulting in the death of 270 birds out of 5,062. As a precautionary response, remaining birds were culled to prevent further spread.
