An expert from the World Health Organization has raised concerns about the underreported extent of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Currently, significant 'blind spots' exist, obscuring the true spread of the disease.

Olivier le Polain, a WHO epidemiologist, emphasized the urgent need for better monitoring in areas considered to be at high risk. 'Surveillance really needs to be strengthened in those areas,' he stated during a briefing in Beni, eastern Congo.
