Ghana: Christian Children’s Fund of Canada donates medicines worth GHC 179,000

Ghana Health Service, which operates under the Ministry of Health, is being endowed with some medicines worth GHC 179,000 to three districts in the northern region by Christian Children’s Fund of Canada. The objective is to reduce the maternal mortality rate as much as possible.
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, the Canadian charity that intends to improve the quality of life for children, families and communities in developing countries, made the donation in Tamale (the capital city of the Northern Region of Ghana) through its Promoting Maternal, Newborn, Infant and Child Sustainable Health Efforts (PROMISE) Project, funded by the Global Affairs Canada.
The donated items include some quantities of Sulphadoxine 500mg + Pyrimethamine 25mg tablets, Artemether 20mg /Lumefantrine 120mg (both PED Powder and tablets), Folic Acid Tablet 5mg, Ferrous Sulphate 200mg, Albendazole 400mg and Multivitamin drop 15ml, as mentioned by Ghana Web. According to Chief of Party of PROMISE, Stephen Amoako, the medicines are provided to assist the complement government’s efforts in providing quality health care to the citizenry especially women and children.
The four-year-project is said to ensure the reduction in maternal and child mortality rate in the Savelugu Municipality, Nanumba North and Saboba Districts of the Northern Region. Christian Children’s Fund of Canada is also committed to working with the Ghana Health Service to ensure that the women and children’s health are secured.
