Tel Aviv [Israel], August 8 (ANI/TPS): The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed the death of Nael Sakhl, a senior Hamas commander responsible for directing terror attacks in Judea and Samaria. Intelligence reports verified that an airstrike on July 24 successfully eliminated Sakhl.
For over a decade, Sakhl was a prominent figure in Hamas' 'West Bank Headquarters,' overseeing terror activities in the regions of Judea and Samaria. The IDF noted that Sakhl played a crucial role in financing and supplying weapons to terror cells targeting both civilians and soldiers. Previously, he was one of the 1,027 prisoners released in the 2011 Gilad Shalit deal, serving a life sentence for his involvement in a 2003 suicide bombing.
The announcement of Sakhl's death comes amidst ongoing tensions following Hamas' attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7, which resulted in at least 1,200 deaths and 252 hostages. Of the 111 remaining hostages, 39 have been confirmed dead. Additionally, Hamas has held two Israeli civilians captive since 2014 and 2015, along with the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
