Employees of Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) protested outside the Quetta Press Club on Sunday, demanding overdue salaries and dues, reported the Express Tribune. Protestors voiced complaints of not being paid for the last three months.
Sohail Anwar, president of the university's Academic Staff Association, criticized both the government and university administration for mismanagement. Faculty members carried placards, banners, chanted slogans, and demanded their dues.
BUITEMS, hosting over 10,000 students, is facing a severe financial crisis threatening its existence. Ranked among Asia's top 500 universities, a senior university official confirmed unpaid salaries for the past three months. The Balochistan Post highlighted similar struggles at University of Makran in Panjgur where students complained about basic amenities.
