Devastating Flash Floods Ravage Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Death Toll Rises

The recent flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have unleashed a humanitarian crisis, with Prime Minister's Coordinator for Information, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, expressing deep concern over a death toll that might reach 1,000, according to ARY News.

Wali, who visited the affected regions, described witnessing entire villages decimated, such as Buner's Chagharzi area and the complete disappearance of Bashoni village. "Some floodcarried rocks were larger than trucks," he noted, highlighting that many victims remain unreported as official statistics capture only hospital-recorded deaths—currently around 300.

Labeling the calamity as a human tragedy, Wali revealed that in Dir, fatalities could surpass 1,000, with many more missing, as families swept away leave no trace. Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority reports confirm at least 657 rain-related deaths nationwide since late June, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa suffering the gravest losses. Extensive rescue efforts are ongoing.
