In a significant diplomatic revelation, Iran's envoy to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has stated that US President Donald Trump assured Iran there would be no military aggression while urging Tehran to remain restrained. This assurance comes during a period of intense protests in Iran over escalating living costs, which have prompted authorities to impose internet limitations.

Moghadam, addressing the media during a visit to Pakistan's National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Authority, disclosed receiving this information in the early hours of the morning. He suggested that while the protesters have legitimate grievances, US and Western media are being blamed for inciting the violence, as reported by Dawn.

Despite threats from the US and Israel, Moghadam declared the situation in Iran as being 'fully under control', with the protests halted. He warned, however, that Iran's airspace closure signifies readiness for any aggression, and stressed Tehran's commitment to retaliate against US and Israeli targets if attacked.

Reports indicate that armed factions were responsible for numerous attacks during the protests, highlighting the fragile state of affairs. However, Moghadam reaffirmed Iran's pursuit of peace but emphasized its defensive posture amidst heightened regional tensions.

Casualties from the unrest, according to Times of Israel, vary significantly, with estimates placing the death toll between 3,000 to over 12,000, reflecting the violent clashes between protesters and security forces.
