PM Modi Extends Eid Greetings to Bangladesh, Reaffirms Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his warmest greetings to Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the citizens of Bangladesh on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, as reported by Bangladesh's state-run news agency BSS. In his message to Rahman, Modi reaffirmed New Delhi's commitment to enhancing people-centric cooperation between the two nations.
Modi highlighted that the festival is an integral facet of India's rich cultural heritage, celebrated with enthusiasm by millions of Muslims nationwide. He emphasized the timeless ideals represented by Eid-ul-Azha, including sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood, which he believes are vital for fostering a peaceful and inclusive world.
Discussing bilateral relations, Modi remarked on the deep-rooted bond between India and Bangladesh, founded on shared sacrifices, cultural ties, and a mutual desire for peace, stability, and growth. Observed on May 28 this year, Eid Al-Adha, also known as Bakra Eid, is a significant Islamic festival marking the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. The festival's date varies annually, adhering to the Islamic lunar calendar. It emphasizes joy, reflection, and compassion, and it celebrates Prophet Abraham's obedience to God, symbolizing faith and devotion.
