U.S. Senate dismisses Trump's request to narrow down budget for State Dept

Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham flatly rejected on Tuesday President Donald Trump's request for a steep cut in the budget for the U.S. State Department.

That proposal "ain't happening," Graham, chairman of the Senate Appropriations subcommittee that oversees the State Department, said at a hearing on the budget with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
