U.S. may 'turn off' Mexico tariffs if talks continue to go well -official

There is still "a long way to go" on talks between U.S. and Mexican officials on immigration and trade, but if negotiations continue to go well, U.S. President Donald Trump could decide not to move forward with tariffs on Mexican imports on Monday, a senior White House official said on Friday.

"There's a legal notification that goes forward today that they plan to implement tariffs on Monday," Marc Short, chief of staff to U.S. Vice President Pence, told reporters. "But I think that there is the ability if negotiations continue to go well, that the president can turn that off at some point over the weekend."
