The Uttar Pradesh Nazul Property (Management and Use for Public Purpose) Bill, which successfully passed the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, faced a setback in the Legislative Council. The bill was sent to the Select Committee of the House for further scrutiny.
The bill's presentation was resumed by Leader of the House and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Thursday. A proposal by BJP member Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary to send the bill to the Select Committee, which would report within two months, was approved by voice vote.
Despite the BJP's 79-member majority in the 100-member Legislative Council, the bill encountered opposition. Alongside this bill, multiple other legislative measures were introduced and passed by voice vote. The House proceedings were subsequently adjourned indefinitely.
