The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday strongly opposed the bail plea of AAP leader Manish Sisodia in the Supreme Court, presenting documents that purportedly show his 'neck-deep involvement' in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

Sisodia, a former Deputy Chief Minister, has been in custody for 17 months, facing separate charges of corruption and money laundering related to the alleged scam. His legal team, represented by senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, argued for bail before a bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan, citing the delayed start of his trial and substantial documentation.

The case has seen protracted proceedings, with claims from both sides about the availability and relevance of evidence. The ED maintains that it has substantive proof of Sisodia's involvement, while Sisodia's defense underscores delays and procedural lapses in the investigation. The Supreme Court has yet to reach a final decision on the bail plea.
