In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police have dismantled a cross-border smuggling module involving a Pakistan-based smuggler using drones to send drugs and weapons into Indian territory, officials confirmed.
Rajwant Singh alias Raju, hailing from Amritsar's Attalgarh village, was apprehended in possession of two sophisticated 9mm Glock pistols and magazines. The operation followed an intelligence input received by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, indicating Raju's plans to deliver a newly received consignment.
According to Director General of Police Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, Raju has been in regular contact with Pakistani smuggler Rana Dyal, who has been orchestrating these illegal consignments. Assistant Inspector General SSOC Amritsar, Sukhminder Singh Mann, added that the smuggled weapons were intended for local buyers. Further investigations are ongoing to trace the extent of previous smuggling activities.
