Missiles Fail to Hit U.S. Airbase in Syria
Projectiles aimed at a U.S. airbase in Syria missed the target, officials confirm. Six shells fired by Iran-backed militia landed near the base in Deir al-Zor province. No injuries were reported. U.S. and coalition forces have been vigilant, with increased aerial activity in the area.

Missiles launched toward a U.S. airbase located in Syria's Deir al-Zor province did not strike the intended facility, according to two U.S. officials on Tuesday.
Previously, a security source informed Reuters that an Iran-backed militia targeted the base with six projectiles, all of which landed in the vicinity, prompting a U.S.-led coalition artillery response. The U.S. officials, speaking anonymously, confirmed no injuries were reported, noting that initial information is subject to change.
Lebanese pro-Iranian TV channel Al Mayadeen reported heightened U.S. aerial activity over the Deir al-Zor countryside following the incident. ConocoPhillips clarified that although reports indicated damage to a U.S. and coalition base named Conoco, their Syrian assets had been divested in the early 2000s.
On Tuesday, the Pentagon confirmed that eight U.S. service members were injured in a separate drone attack on a Syrian base the previous week.
