The Bombay High Court announced on Wednesday that it will issue its decision on August 23 regarding an interim bail plea by dismissed police officer Sachin Waze. The bail plea is connected to a corruption case also involving former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.
Waze's legal representation claims that his detention violates his fundamental rights since he has turned approver, while all other accused, including Deshmukh, are currently out on bail. Aabad Ponda, representing Waze, argued this point during the hearings. However, CBI advocate Raja Thakare opposed the plea, emphasizing that Waze has yet to be examined by the court.
Waze was arrested in March 2021 in connection with an explosives-laden vehicle found near Mukesh Ambani's residence and the murder of businessman Mansukh Hiran. Initially allowed to turn approver in 2022, he now seeks interim bail before his court examination.
