The suspect, who evaded his fare, threatened officers with a knife, leading to the incident. Mayor Eric Adams and the NYPD promise a thorough investigation into the affair.
Four people were injured at a Brooklyn train station Sunday when police officers shot at a man who threatened them with a knife, according to authorities. The injured included the blade-wielding suspect, one officer, and two innocent bystanders.
The incident started when two officers confronted a man who entered the station without paying, officials said. The suspect was shot several times but remains in stable condition, while a 49-year-old bystander is in critical condition. Another bystander, a 26-year-old woman, sustained a graze wound.
Interim Police Commissioner Thomas Donlan, in his third day on the job, promised a thorough investigation. Mayor Eric Adams, who described the suspect as a 'career criminal' with over 20 arrests, visited the wounded officer in the hospital. The NYPD has not yet released footage of the incident.
