Hezbollah Vows Retaliation Amidst Rising Israeli Ground Invasion Threat
Hezbollah's deputy leader, Naim Qassem, has declared readiness to counter any Israeli ground invasion in Lebanon. This comes after Israeli airstrikes killed Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's chief. The conflict has escalated with extensive casualties and displacement. Lebanon's government aims to implement a U.N. resolution to reduce Hezbollah's armed presence.
Hezbollah's deputy leader, Naim Qassem, declared the group's readiness to confront any Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon. This statement follows the killing of Hezbollah's chief, Hassan Nasrallah, by Israeli forces. Qassem emphasized Hezbollah's preparedness in his first public address since Nasrallah's death.
Qassem's address came as Israeli airstrikes continued to target locations in Beirut and other parts of Lebanon, resulting in significant casualties and displacement. The Lebanese government reported that around 1,000 Lebanese have been killed and one million displaced due to the ongoing conflict.
Hours before Qassem's speech, Hamas confirmed the death of its leader in Lebanon, killed by an Israeli airstrike in Tyre. The conflict remains intense, with Iran vowing to respond to Israel's actions, and Lebanon's Prime Minister expressing readiness to implement measures to reduce Hezbollah's armed presence as part of a U.N. resolution.
