Emergency Summit Delayed: Arab Nations Rally Against Trump's Gaza Proposal

Egypt has deferred an emergency Arab summit intended to address U.S. President Donald Trump's divisive proposal, which advocates removing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and taking control of the area.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that the meeting will now occur on March 4 in Cairo, allowing additional "logistical and objective preparations." The summit had initially been scheduled for February 27 after Trump's contentious proposal reverberated throughout the region.
Countries across the Arab world, along with Palestinian authorities, have unanimously opposed any displacement of the Gaza Strip's population. While Israel has expressed support for the plan—criticized by human rights activists as potential forced displacement and a contravention of international law—Egypt warned that the proposal threatens to destabilize its longstanding peace accord with Israel.
