A Delhi court on Monday declined a request from Engineer Rashid, a jailed Parliamentarian from Jammu and Kashmir, for custody parole to participate in the upcoming parliamentary session.
Presiding Judge Chander Jit Singh dismissed the plea, noting the order for Rashid's regular bail plea had been postponed to March 19, with further details to be issued. The decision followed the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) response to the plea.
Rashid, elected in 2024 after defeating former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, remains in Tihar jail due to a 2019 arrest connected to a 2017 terror funding case investigated by the NIA. His case is part of a larger investigation into alleged funding of terrorist groups in Kashmir.
