Punjab police announced on Monday the arrest of Shehnaz Singh, an Indian-origin transnational drug trafficker highly sought by the FBI in connection with a major narcotics bust in the United States.
Singh, who also goes by Shawn Bhinder, had been operating a transportation business in Canada since 2014, which allegedly served as a front for moving drugs from Colombia to the U.S. and Canada through Mexico, according to police reports.
Following a crackdown by the FBI, Singh eluded authorities and travelled secretly to India, where Punjab police successfully apprehended him in Ludhiana. The arrest aligns with Punjab's "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs) initiative launched earlier this year.
