Odisha's Crackdown on Illegal Mining Yields Over 300 Arrests
A statewide crackdown in Odisha led to over 300 arrests related to illegal mining of minor minerals such as sand and stones. With over 450 cases registered and vehicles seized, the initiative aims to curb illicit activities with public cooperation.

In a decisive operation against illegal activities, Odisha officials have arrested over 300 individuals involved in the unlawful mining and transport of minor minerals, including sand and stones. This was announced by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania during a press briefing on Tuesday.
The statewide crackdown initiated on March 7 has so far seen 456 cases registered across various police stations, with the seizure of 524 vehicles linked to these activities. Additionally, 360 people have been taken into custody as part of the operation.
Led by the district administrations, the Mines Department, and police, the special drive aims to eradicate illegal mining across the state. Authorities urge public cooperation by providing information about illicit activities to the police.
